Thursday night, I attended my second Campaign for Liberty meeting. Grant McCallum gave a great presentation on the organization and we elected Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer for the Cuyahoga County group. While I enjoy the tremendous amount of information gained at these meetings, I feel a little ineffectual because a portion of the issues that concern them do not apply to me. I’d really like to get a Lorain County group going.

Friday night, Human Arc took its Compass team out for drinks and wings at The Factory Restaurant in celebration of making our external product go live with version 1.0. It was a good time. Nice to hang out with my co-workers and not talk about work.

Saturday afternoon, Molly and I went to help out at We Care We Share’s Family Fun Day. We Care We Share is a community outreach program sponsored by the Amherst Church of Christ. They have a food pantry and clothing center. On the last Saturday of every month, they serve a hot meal and encourage the members of the church to get to know those who are being served by the outreach program. Family Fun Day was an extension of the monthly meal that was set up similar to a carnival. They had face painting, crafts, storytelling and games. I coordinated the cornhole (beanbag toss) and Molly handed out the candy and prizes. My job mainly consisted of keeping the kids from chucking the corn-filled bags at each other. It wasn’t too bad. In fact, some of the kids were helping me run the games.

Saturday night, I went to a fundraiser for Ohio Attorney General candidate Robert Owens. He spoke for about 2 hours and thoroughly impressed me. He earned my donation and my vote. I’ll be supporting him in the Woollybear Parade next Sunday.
