I love national holidays. We should have one every week to spare me from five consecutive days of work.
We had Kurk, Amy, Rachel (and baby Micah) over to our house last Thursday. It was kind of supposed to be a game night, but it ended up being mostly conversation. It’s still cool. Socializing in almost any form is a good thing.
Allen and Melanie, Molly’s parents, came up on Friday and we got to play some games with them. The males beat the females in an open-ended bout of Taboo. We also played a fair amount of games on the Wii and I was slightly surprised at how much they enjoyed it. Almost a week later, Allen is still the high scorer for Darts.
I didn’t eat any hotdogs all weekend, but I did watch most of Nathan’s International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest on ESPN. They had it on the tv at Red Robin while we were eating lunch and it didn’t do much for my appetite.
Friday night, Melanie, Molly, and I went to a party Robin and Judith (Melanie’s brother and sister-in-law) were having at their house on Lake Erie. It was pretty cool because you could see eight or nine fireworks displays all along the lake. We had a good time.
Saturday, we played some more Wii and visited for a while before late afternoon, when Allen and Melanie headed back home.
It was a good weekend, but I’m ready for the next holiday.
When is Labor Day, again?
