Busy Week

Friday (6/15)

I left work early and headed toward Pennsylvania. Five hours alone in a car can do things to your mind. After realizing that I was singing gibberish, I had to call Molly to get a dose of sanity. Around 8:30, I arrived at my parents house and knocked on the door. My dad peaked his head out and asked "What are you doing here?" with a spooked expression then he pulled it back in and shut the door. I finally got him to come out onto the porch and he just could not believe that I was really there. I don't think I've ever surprised him like that before. Don't worry, once the reality set in, he was really happy to see me.

Saturday (6/16)

My dad had to work, so I had made some plans to hang out with friends until he was done. I went out for breakfast at Perkins with Donald, Eric, Matt and his girlfriend. It was good to catch up with them, but it was kind of sad that it was awkward at times. I think this was the first time that I met up with them and felt that way.

After breakfast, I headed over to James Thomas' house. We talked, watched SpongeBob SquarePants, ate lunch, I schooled his toddler in chess, and then his Atari 2600 system schooled me. Had a pretty fun time.

Maria helping dad open his present.

My family celebrated Father's Day that night because my grandpa's 80th birthday was the next day. I got him a 2 year subscription to Popular Mechanics, my mom and foster sister got him a bathrobe, and my brothers got him some rodeo gloves for motorcycling. I guess it was good, because he said it was one of the best Father's Days he has had in a couple years.

Sunday (6/17)

Josephine, Pop, Bob, Forrest, Fae, and Warren

After church, we went back to the house for Pop's 80th Birthday Party. Lots of family, lots of food, lots of fun. I had to pull some teeth to get the picture of Pop and his siblings shown above. Can you tell?

After evening services, the Fishers and Alyssa came over and ate supper with us. Three teenage girls makes for a lot of giggling, let me tell you.

Monday (6/18)

I packed up and headed back to Ohio, but I brought Daniel with me to stay with us for the week. He's not that outgoing, so even though he slept for a portion of the trip, it was good to get a chance to talk with him. Brotherly bonding and all that. He ended up talking us into going to see Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer that night, though.

Tuesday (6/19)

I took Daniel to work with me all week. On this first day, I tried explaining to him the stuff I was doing, but ultimately he played around with Flash.

Wednesday (6/20)

On Daniel's second day at work, I actually found him something educational to do. He started learning about CSS and put it to use on his site. He caught on pretty quick and I think he learned a lot throughout the rest of the work week. Of course, there's always more to learn.

After work, we met Molly in Lakewood at The Melt for dinner. I had a tuna melt (which was really good), Daniel had a bacon and egg melt (which he said was really good), and Molly had a mushroom melt (which she said had too many onions on it). It had a fun atmosphere and we had a good time. After that, Molly headed home while Daniel and I decided to walk around the neighborhood. We discovered a place called the Exchange where I bought the first three special edition Harry Potter movies for $6 a piece. Quite a good deal.

Thursday (6/21)

Daniel boxing at Dave & Buster's.

Daniel and I went to Dave and Buster's after work. He scored higher in Skeeball and I scored higher in Basketball. With the tickets we won, Daniel bought a can of Tootsie Rolls and ate the whole thing on the way home. Video games and candy; I'm sure that was his favorite night here.

Friday (6/22)

After Daniel's final day of work, we all went to the Rib cook off in Strongsville. It was expensive, but the weather was nice and the food was good.

Saturday (6/23)

Molly and I met my mom at Plyler's Buffet & Family Restaurant in Brookville, PA for lunch and to give Daniel back. They had some DELICIOUS sticky buns and blueberry pie. I was glad Molly came along to see my mom and to keep me company on the way home. What a good little wife she is. :)

Summary

Lots of traveling, lots of family, and lots of food. I think that about covers it.
