After touring a genocide memorial in Kigali, Rwanda on Feb. 19, 2008, President Bush said:
A clear lesson I learned in the museum was that outside forces that tend to divide people up inside their country are unbelievably counterproductive.
In New Delhi, on Feb. 27, 2008, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said:
It’s very important that the Turks make this operation as short as possible and then leave, and to be mindful of Iraqi sovereignty
…
Are these people even aware of what the United States is doing in Iraq?

Turkey has pulled out, but they claim it was on their own terms.
"Both the start and end dates of the operation were decided by us solely based on military reasoning and necessities," it said.
"Any influence, either foreign or domestic, on this decision by the Turkish armed forces is out of the question."
